The essence of my documentary is to illuminate the lives of fishermen - shot during my Final Year in college for a documentary assignment, and received appreciations, but more than that I was able to be with the heroes exploring and capturing the sweetest memories, revealing their daily struggles and the sheer perseverance it takes to earn a living. Each day, they venture beyond the horizon, braving the vast and unpredictable sea to bring back their catch.
To truly capture their story, we journeyed to North Chennai, spending time with them, living alongside them, and understanding their world up close. It was an intense experience, and despite the limited time, I believe I managed to encapsulate their raw emotions on film.
During that time, AI technology wasn't quite advanced enough for widespread use by the general public, which is why I opted for Speech It, a Chrome plugin, to handle voiceovers. Had this project been done today with all the expert contacts and the learnings, the quality would be far more refined and polished,
Though our time was brief—we filmed everything in a single day—the impact of the experience lingered. With my school friend Krishna Sharma by my side, we worked swiftly but meticulously, shaping the footage into a compelling narrative. The entire documentary was edited in just three days using Adobe Premiere Pro, bringing the heart of the fishermen’s story to life.
